Stowlangtoft Healthcare is celebrating after having seen two of its staff win accolades at the 2016 National Care Awards in London.
Sam Cutts, Deputy Manager at Brandon Park Nursing Home was awarded the title of Best Registered Nurse in the UK, beating off stiff competition from four other finalists. The judges said that Sam was chosen because “she gave great examples of solving problems and leading her team by example to enhance residents’ lives. Testimonials from families and colleagues showed [that] she is an outstanding and skilled nurse who has been motivated throughout her impressive career to take on challenges and resolve them.”
It was a double night of celebration for Stowlangtoft Healthcare as Company Director Ruth French was awarded the title of Best Care Operations Manager in the UK. The judges said of Ruth: “In her wide ranging role, Ruth demonstrated she leads by example by taking two failing care homes and driving up standards and the quality of care resulting in both being rated ‘Good’. By implementing the company ethos of “Beacons of Quality” and focussing on repairing reputation through community involvement and sharing best practice with external stake holders, she is a great example for the sector.”
This is the 18th year of the National Care Awards, which are the longest established Annual Awards and are organised by social care’s leading publication, Caring Times. Winners of the National Care Awards were presented with their trophies by celebrity Keith Duffy at the high profile Gala Night held on Friday 25th November at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel, attended by over 700 guests.
The Awards were devised to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care. There were 18 categories to enter overall and there were up to five finalists in each category, each judged by panels of three independent judges
Award winning Director, Ruth French, said “As a company we are hugely proud of the achievements of all our staff, including Carer Linda Elmer and Chef Richard Baker who were also both finalists in these awards. For a small family-run company such as ours to be on the national stage competing with groups of over 200 homes, it shows you what is achievable when you place quality care at the heart of what you provide to your residents.”
Stowlangtoft Healthcare is now eagerly looking forward to further success in 2017 with seven staff shortlisted for regional awards in another competition.
