‘Stow in the Snow’ returned for its second year to help provide meaningful Christmas activities within the homes and engage staff, residents and their families all together at this special time of year. Popular categories returned from last year including best ‘Winter Wonderland’, best table decoration and festive floral arrangement, there was something for everyone to get involved with. The ‘Best Decorated Christmas Tree’ across our group was shared on social media and the winner chosen by staff, relatives and members of the public.
The winners were decided by judges from Suffolk County Council; Julie Martin, Provider Support Lead and Georgie Stevens contracts officer. The judges toured the homes awarding rosettes for first, second and third place entries with the winners from each home were then taken forward to be judged “Best in Stow”. Stowlangtoft Hall claimed 3 ‘Best in Stow’ rosettes; the team retained the crown ‘Best Decorated Gingerbread House’ with a fantastic creation which involved so many residents in the home. The home also won the other cake category taking the title for ‘Best Christmas cake’ with their three cakes which told the story of the of the Night before Christmas. The third rosette was awarded for the Best Christmas Jumper which was part of a knitted collaboration made by staff, residents and volunteers who all knitted a section of the jumper which was put together by the team and modelled by Pat on judging day.
Special thanks to the activities team and staff Judy Ruddy, Shirley Wing and Any Smart for their big contributions.
