On the 16th November, we opened our doors to the public for the home’s annual Christmas Fair. The local community joined the home’s staff and residents to kick start the festive season in style. Each year the event grows in size and this year the home in Stowlangtoft welcomed nearly 30 stall holders selling items ranging from handmade crafts and jewellery to children’s toys and games as well items handmade by residents at the home.
No festive event is complete without a visit from Santa Claus, who was ready with his ‘nice list’ and presented children with a pre-Christmas gift. Back by popular demand, two of Santa’s reindeer; Prancer and Dasher joined him for a day of festivities to meet and greet the fair’s visitors. Children were able to meet Father Christmas in his magical Christmas grotto and pass on their Christmas wish list ready for the festive season. Families, staff and residents were then treated to a special reindeer encounter, learning fun facts about their care from James Williams, the director of J & C Party Pets ltd., before finishing the day with a memorable photo in Santa’s sleigh. It really was a day for all the family to enjoy together.
The event raised over £800 for the home’s resident fund which will pay for events and trips out for residents in 2020. We would like to thank all of the volunteers who gave up their time to support this year’s Christmas Fair and support us with activities on an ongoing basis.
